Where does Royal Bali Bird Nest come from?

Our bird nests are farmed, harvested and cleaned in Bali.

Our quality begins with our meticulous control management in carrying out bird nest farming. Our bird nests originate from our 45 houses and all of our birds are sheltered in temperature & humidity-controlled houses, protected from the hazardous elements and predators. Being located mainly in Bali Island, our birds are free to fly around without the harmful threat of pollution. We equip the vicinity of our houses with added sources of food and water to ensure ample supply during extreme weather conditions. Our sanitary, ventilation and harvesting programs maximise bird comfort and minimise stress, creating an ideal habitat for growing healthy birds and, in turn, for producing premium quality bird nests.

Cleaned bird nests should be ivory in color and the consistency is uneven. Shapes and sizes also vary. The broader there are the higher in value. If the bird nests are uniform in terms of shapes, sizes and color, it also indicates that they are treated.

Bird nests should be completely dry and it does break easily too. Premium bird nests can expand 6-8 times its original weight. The bigger they are, the more able they are to hold water; the better is its quality. Look out for the density too. The more gapless it is, the higher its grade.

The smell of bird nests resembles the scent of egg-white. Chemicals hide the smell away and that is one indicative that it has been treated.

Cave nest contains more impurities due to the minerals and metals present inside the caves. As it is almost impossible to manually clean them, 99% of the cave nest are cleaned using strong bleaching agent.

What exactly are bird nests and how are they formed?

Bird nests are actually the glutinous secretion of swiftlets for nest building; their reproductive process. These secretions come from a pair of sublingual glands which is located under the tongue of the swifts.

During the building of their nests, the secretions are laid strand by strand to form the nests. That also explains why the outer layer has longer and thicker strands; and the inner ones are shorter and thinner.

08

What is the difference between Royal Bali Bird Nests and the other bird nests?

There are several factors that differentiate Royal Bali Bird Nests from others:

· Method of Harvesting –

Unlike all the other heartless farmers whereby they do not care about the state or the conditions in which the nests were created by the swiftlet birds and keep harvesting the nests non stop, we do not practice the harvesting of nests which are created and used by the swiftlet parents to nurture their youngs. We will specifically wait for the young ones to be independent and are able to fly before harvesting the nests, This period will approximately take about 3 months. As such, the nests of Royal Bali Bird Nests are generally a lot bigger in size and thicker, not to mention more nutritious and tastier.

· Cleaning Process of Bird Nests –

During our cleaning process, we do not adopt the use of any kind of chemicals or additives. No bleaching, jelly, edible substitutes or glue is ever used. All employees involved in the cleaning process of our bird nests undergo mandatory training in food safety and quality. Whilst there are undoubtedly various types of good quality bird nests, we truly believe that the finest quality bird nests should be appreciated as naturally and originally as possible. With Royal Bali Bird Nests, you can be confident that no two bird nests are identical in shape because each and every one is created by the swiftlet birds. As such, each of our premium nests is selectively handpicked, meticulously & naturally cleansed, delicately & minimally touched up to their original shapes before being beautifully packaged and presented to you.

· Dryness of Bird Nests –

We at Royal Bali Bird Nests place heavy emphasis on the fact that there will be no misinformation on the DRY weight of bird nests. We take pride in promising that the exact DRY weight of the final product is identical to the label indicated in our package. You might ask, what is this dry weight about anyway? The price of the bird nests in which consumers pay are all based on the weight of the bird nests. Now imagine some dishonest shop owners who purposely spray water into the bird nests which inevitably make the bird nests heavier, consumers who do not understand this may be put at a disadvantage position.
